The ABLE Act’s state residency requirement has been eliminated

ABLE Act Update: “The ABLE Act’s state residency requirement has been eliminated as part of the Tax Extenders package (Section 303) that recently passed the US House and US Senate. The state residency requirement meant that a qualified individual could only open an ABLE account in the state where he or she resides and could not “shop around” for other state ABLE programs. This restriction will be stricken from the ABLE law once the Tax Extenders bill is signed.”
